Jefferson Twp. Police Dept. Police Report from September / October 2021.
09/16/21, MV Stop/Drug Paraphernalia/P.O. Riley: P.O. Riley was on stationery patrol in the area of Mountain Tire, when a blue four-door sedan passed him. The vehicle was stopped by PO Riley for a motor vehicle violation. Further investigation led to the arrest of the passenger Nicholas Scalici, 31 of Franklin, NJ for 2C:36-6A. The defendant was charged and released with a court date.
09/18/21, MV Stop/DWI/P.O. Riley: P.O. Riley was traveling on BVR when a vehicle exited Maple Ave. and failed to yield to him. P.O. Riley stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Landon Koscuiszka 23, of Oak Ridge NJ. After further investigation, the driver was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. The driver was issued multiple summonses and released to a family member.
10/16/2021, DWI: P.O. Ryan/Coyle: While on routine patrol Officer Ryan observed a vehicle on Rt. 15 S using all 3 lanes of travel. After stopping the vehicle, the driver was identified as David Granda, 47 of Dover NJ. Grander was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. He was then taken to Jefferson Twp. Police Headquarters, where he was charged and released to a friend.
10/19/2021, Warrant Arrest, PO Veliu: William Mahoney, age 58 of Frenchtown, NJ was picked up by Sparta Police on a Jefferson Warrant. Mahoney was transported to JTPD HQ, then turned over to the Morris County Sheriff’s Dept. to be lodged at the Morris County Correctional Facility.
10/23/2021, Community Events:
Patrol Bureau, Services/ Records Bureau, Traffic Bureau and Detective Bureau attended numerous community events: the DEA Drug Give back, Camp Jefferson Fall-Fest, Girls Softball Tournament and Youth Football Games.
10/27/2021, Lost Hiker, PO Zachowski, PO Riley, PO Lamantia, PO Fuehring, Lt. Krater, Dispatcher Cabrera: At approximately sunset, Dispatcher Cabrera received a call from a lost hiker in the woods off of Compton Goble Road. Jefferson Fire Rescue and Morris County Sherriff Department K-9 responded to scene and after a search of the area, were able to find the hiker, who was uninjured.
10/27/2021, DWI, Sgt. McCarthy: While performing stationary radar on Route 15 South, Sgt. McCarthy observed a vehicle speeding and failing to maintain its lane. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Paola Gavino-Sanchez, 41 of South Amboy, NJ. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to Jefferson Twp. Police HQ, where she was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and other Motor Vehicle violations. She was released to a family member.
10/31/21,DWI, P.O. Ryan, Ward: P.O. Ryan and Ward observed a vehicle using all 3 lanes on Rt. 15S. Vehicle was stopped and the driver was identified as Cesar Acosta 56, of Dover NJ. Acosta was placed under arrest and transported back to JTPD Headquarters where he was charged and released to a friend.
