The Borough of Hopatcong Recreation Department under the leadership of Cathy Millian, with major help from the DPW, whipped the major two parks in town to host over 1,500 visitors for this year’s edition of Hopatcong Days. While the finished product looks easy from the perspective of the attendee, this event has been carefully planned for over a year.
The Borough was able to further bank on the success of the very popular Hopatcong Marketplace that has been running all year long, as the largest outdoor marketplace in Sussex County. So as we toured the booths we found local community groups and local vendors that assist in providing a fun family event, with so much to offer the families of Hopatcong.
During our two-hour tour of the event, we found families engaged in Rock Climbing, Axe Throwing, Pony Rides, and other fun family experiences, which are the signature of this great annual town gathering. As it’s all about the community according to Mayor Michael Francis. To serve as an example the Mayor and several Town Council members worked behind the lines serving free hot dogs, while others served free Italian ice and other goodies to everyone in attendance.
It was good to see this major event return to Hopatcong during the summer of 2021, as public restrictions are diminished enough to allow the event, and the overwhelming attendance proved that the residents are ready to get back to normal life within Hopatcong.
Thank you to all of the Borough of Hopatcong departments that made this possible in 2021. This town community event is another reason why it’s great to live in Hopatcong, job well done by everyone involved …
