Proper COVID-19 safety protocols will be followed at the clinic, including social distancing, which is why only 25-30 participants will be allowed per clinic session.
The clinics are open to any child in kindergarten through middle school, who resides in the Borough of Hopatcong.
HLL has partnered with Hit and Run Sports Center, allowing for the clinics to be held inside their state-of-the-art training facility on Wheldon Road in Lake Hopatcong. The clinics, which will cover basic baseball and softball skills, will be professionally instructed by coaches from Hit and Run.
You do not need to be a current participant of any Hopatcong Little League programs to participate.
"Hopatcong Little League recognizes the importance of sports to building confidence, physical fitness and sportsmanship among our youth, and we believe that tee ball, baseball and softball can serve as an outlet for our children," said Tom Dowling, president of Hopatcong Little League. "That's why our board decided to hold these free clinics, which give Hopatcong children of all ages the opportunity to try the sport out."
In addition, the clinic is a great way for current Little League participants to brush up on some of their skills before the Spring season. Interested parents can register their children for a free clinic here.
As the clinic date approaches, parents will be notified by the Hit and Run staff of their participant's clinic time slot. Participants will need to bring their own baseball bat, baseball glove, baseball helmet and drinking water. Cleats are not permitted, so children can wear regular sneakers. For younger participants or those who do not own a baseball bat or helmet, Hopatcong Little League will have a small supply of sanitized bats and helmets. Please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
if your registered player will need to borrow some equipment for the clinic.
Registration for Hopatcong Little League's Spring programs is currently underway and more information about this free clinic and HLL Spring registration can be found at the Hopatcong Little League Facebook page
We'd like to thank all of our Hopatcong Little League supporters, especially those who participated in our Summer and Fall Hopatcong Little League Rally Cap Fundraiser, for making this day of free clinics possible.
