The following Lake Hopatcong Fishing Report came in from Dow’s Boat Rental on (05/01)

Some notable catches the past couple of weeks, include:

  • Jim Salerno with a 3 lb. 12 oz pickerel
  • Clint Myers with a 3 lb. 3 oz Rainbow Trout.
  • Eddie Mackin has weighed in with his 6 lb. 14 oz fish and his brother Christopher had several fish in the 3 to 4-pound range, hitting stick baits and live herring.
  • Walleye season is open today May 1st.


Upcoming Fishing Contest: The Knee-Deep Club’s Panfish Challenge is being held this Sunday, May 5th from 5 AM - 4 PM. It will include Sunfish, white & yellow perch, Rock Bass and Crappie. It is a point-based contest with cash prizes will go to the top 3 finishers.


Knee Deep Club - 2019 Lake Hopatcong Panfish Challenge

On May 5, 2019 the Knee-Deep Club will be hosting its Lake Hopatcong Panfish Challenge! This is a one-day contest which will be held from 5 AM to 4 PM. This contest is a “points contest”.

The winners will be the top three anglers who score the highest points based on the following point system. Five (5), Three (3) and two (2) points will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the following five categories: Sunfish, Rock Bass, Yellow Perch, White Perch and Crappie. Total points will win. This contest was created to target some of the “over looked fish”. Lake Hopatcong is well known throughout the region for the Panfish it holds.

The contest entry fee is $20.00 for Lake Hopatcong Knee Deep Club Members and $25.00 for non-members ($20 entry + $5.00 non-member fee) and must be submitted on an official contest entry form. Mail in entries must be received by the club on Friday May 3, 2019. In person entries can be made at either official Knee-Deep Club contest weigh station until 8:00 AM on May 5, 2019. TAKE A KID FISHING: A contestant may enter a child who is under age 16 in this contest for a $5 entry fee. The child with the largest fish will win a Rod & Reel combo. Ties will be broken by which fish was weighted in first.
