As the communities around our lake continue to hunker-down for an extended period of time to stop the spread of Coronavirus, the residents are reaching out looking to help others that made need assistance.

To help coordinate these efforts Hopatcong and now Mount Arlington Boroughs are providing administration efforts for the local Residents-Helping-Residents initiative.

Mount Arlington Mayor In1According to Mount Arlington Mayor Michael Stanzilis, the Volunteer hotline was idea that was pitched over a week ago by several members in the Borough and fellow residents. According to the Mayor the theme was constant in that “Mount Arlington wants to come together as a community and help those that need assistance.” So, we proceeded with the idea and appointed the clerk’s office as the focal point.

“The residents of Mount Arlington really look-out for each other and care for each other in times of need. This idea flows directly from the community’s desire to look after each other.”

Announcement from Mount Arlington

Many in our community have asked how they can assist those in need. For example, some of your neighbors may not able to get to the grocery store and you would be willing to shop and deliver for them.

If you are interested in being added to our list of Volunteers, please provide your contact information to our Clerk’s Office at kknight@mtarlingtonboro.com.

Announcement from Hopatcong

Over the last weekend Hopatcong Mayor Michael Francis announced the start of Residents-Helping-Residents, stating “If someone needs assistance in my community, I’m going to make sure they get it.”

Naming himself as the focal point to start, he is requesting that residents of the borough contact him by email or phone if they fall into one of the following categories.

    • If you are able to provide any type of general services or assistance (Shopping, Errands, etc.)
    • If you are in need of assistance

The mayor will then match the incoming requests for assistance to those residents that have offered their services.
