The food drive has only just started, and already numerous kids from Roxbury are delivering food to help with the drive.

Roxbury, known for its community spirit is delivering big-time for the Police Department’s food drive this month. And the police are going all out for the kids coming into the station, by personally greeting everyone, giving tours, and handing out Hunger-Hero shirts to the kids. Several kids have even been able to even sit in a patrol car and to experience what it’s like to be a police officer.

This extra effort by the Roxbury Police has paid off for both the food drive and the community.

More about the Food Drive:

The Roxbury Township Police Department is assisting Roxbury Social Services in hosting a Township Thanksgiving Food Drive.

Township of RoxburyThroughout November Roxbury residents will have the opportunity to donate nonperishable items at the police department. The Food Pantry is extremely low of supplies and is in desperate need of donations.

The day before Thanksgiving the food will be donated to Roxbury Social Services to assist low-income working families, seniors and people with disabilities, living on fixed incomes. The Food Pantry exists solely on the generous donations from individuals and local businesses. Many individuals and families in our Township rely on social services and our food pantry. Any donations are welcome.

In addition, the Thanksgiving Holiday is a great time to educate your children about taking an active role in their community by helping to fight hunger. If your child brings in items to the police department, they will become a Fighting Hunger Hero. They will have their picture taken with an officer, and it will be posted on our Facebook page.

While supplies last, each child will receive a T-Shirt, and they may be picked to receive a tour of the police department.

Best times for Drop-off are Monday to Friday 9:00 to 4:00 PM. Ring the call button is no one is in the front lobby.
