The treasure hunters were ready, and so where the vendors for the fourth annual 2016 Community Yard Sale. While the skies were a little cloudy, the bargains seem bright as the shopping and selling started right at 9:00 AM.
This type of Community Yard Sales is a clever idea that other regions might want to adopt, as brings all of the sellers into one area, rather than the buyer running from place-to-place. Which is a great idea!
As we spoke to several of the regulars who have attended the Community Yard Sale in the past, they felt that the number of booths was less than previous years. Noting that normally the entire field was filled with Vendors.
The sponsors of the event, Roxbury Chamber of Commerce were quick to set us straight on the facts. In 2015 they did have more sellers, but only because the spring event was rained out, so twice as many sellers came to the fall event. Based upon the number of people that reserved space, this year is actually above the average in past years.
This is an important event for the Roxbury Chamber of Commerce as they use the funds raised during this event to help with the scholarships and the many other areas where they assist the community.
