ROXBURY, NJ (February 8, 2019) – Roxbury High School’s Program of Studies for the 2019/2020 school year is getting a few new course additions.

One being, Design Thinking. This 2.5 credit class, open to juniors and seniors, is not just about design. It is a systemic approach to innovation and creative problem-solving that can be used in school, work, and life.

Design Thinking applies the processes of design to real-world challenges in business and society and to that effect, we are looking for community partners to team up with. Check out their work and see if you want to partner with them! Visit the Graphic Design website at https://roxwix.wixsite.com/graphicdesign/partners.

Roxbury High School graphic design students can design and create for you! Design Thinking is a creative problem-solving approach that will enable Roxbury students to build skills for innovating, including the ability to think creatively, work collaboratively with others, solve problems, and implement innovations.

Michael Mitchell, Roxbury’s Director of Instructional Innovation shared, “It provides a structured framework and process for addressing challenges in all aspects of our lives. The Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford University (“the d.school”), has refined the Design Thinking process so as to help develop young innovators and resourceful lifelong learners. Students will use the Design Thinking framework to solve real-world problems and learn and implement skills that will assist them throughout life and their careers through partnerships in and out of school.”

Mitchell went on to say, “Roxbury Public Schools recognizes the wealth of knowledge and experience in and around our community. Specifically, we are looking for you to help us strengthen our future workforce through partnerships with our schools and students.”

Adding, “Our Graphic Design students are talented, creative, and curious and want to demonstrate their abilities by working and designing for our partners. Do you need a brochure, a logo, or possibly a new menu for your business? Bring it to our design students and they can work with you to create your vision.”

To get started, all you need to do is a take a few minutes to fill out a Partner Survey to give them basic information about who you are and what you do. It will take about 10 minutes. Once you connect with them, they will call or email you and see how their Graphic Design students can assist you!
