The Roxbury High School honored the top ten students in the class of 2018 on June 7th. These students will graduate with the highest academic averages this year.

In addition to the students, the district recognized the teachers those students felt contributed most to their educational success. Parents of the honorees were invited to accompany their children to a dinner and reception in the dining hall at Roxbury High School.

Honored students and teachers shared kind words, best wishes, a few memories and tears, and thanks to each other for the impact they have had on each other’s lives and the Roxbury community.

Students honored at the dinner were Karly Forker, Kelsey Forker, Natalie Shulkowski, Emma Karnitsky, Jessica Grenot, James Morley, Ryan Reimers, Kendall Torpin, Kaitlyn Forker, and Michael O’Conner.

The teachers those students felt contributed most to their educational success were Barbra Hardy, Lise McLoughlin, Kevin Bewalder, Kaitlyn Norgard, Ariesta Theodoropoulas, Ruth Falvey, Ryan Gibson, Anthony McMichael, Christopher Shadwell, and Christine Sheldon.

Future plans for each student include moving on to institutions of higher learning in the fall.

This year’s Valedictorian Karly Forker will be headed to Bucknell University to study biochemistry with the career goal of being a biotechnologist. Her sister, and this year’s Salutatorian, Kelsey Forker along with Ryan Reimers will head to Northeastern University. Kelsey plans to study chemical engineering while Ryan plans to study business administration and political science.

Two students, Natalie Shulkowski and James Morley will be headed to the University of Notre Dame. Natalie plans to study engineering while James will focus on political science.

Another two students, Jessica Grenot and Kaitlyn Forker will be off to Villanova University in the fall. Jessica plans to study finance and business analytics while Kaitlyn plans to study business.

The other three students will be headed in different directions. Emma Karnitsky will stay in state to attend The College of New Jersey to pursue secondary education in Mathematics. Kendall Torpin is headed south to Clemson University in South Carolina to study nursing while Michael O’Connor heads to Lafayette College in Pennsylvania to study biochemistry.

We wish all of these students the best of luck with their bright futures! Make Roxbury proud!
