Early Monday morning, Alison “Alie” Ramage signed her letter of intent to play Rugby at the University of South Carolina in the fall.

She signed surrounded by her parents, David and Diane, her coaches Tom Feury and Gene Caufield, her Morris Rugby co-captain Ciara Sharkey along with a few supportive classmates.

Allie, who’s been interested in studying International Business for several years decided on the University of South Carolina that has the number one IB program in the country. She’ll spend most of her time in the Darla Moore School of Business focusing on innovation and creativity along with analytical skills which will give her the expertise for multiple and diverse study-abroad experiences, ultimately, with the hopes of working for a global employer.

When not studying, Alie will be tearing it up on the Rugby field. She is just one of many Roxbury Gaels who have signed letters of intent to continue their athletic careers after graduation.

Although Roxbury doesn’t have a Rugby program, Alie was able to find a home with Morris Rugby Corporation, a private club out of Morristown, NJ.

She started playing at the end of her eighth-grade year with the Morris U18 girls team after many years of playing soccer and running track in Roxbury. “When I began playing, there were several other Roxbury students on the team, all of whom have graduated RHS and continue to play rugby in college,” shared Alie.

Adding, “Rugby has provided me amazing opportunities that I truly don’t think I would have had in any other sport! Along with being a member of Morris, I’ve played for several select-side teams at a regional, national, and international level. I’ve competed in the High School Rugby Championships with NJ Blaze and with Atlantis Rugby, I’ve played on elite squads in Atlanta, NYC, Salt Lake City, and Vegas. With the USA High School All-Americans, I was honored to represent my country in the games against Canada’s U18 team.”

Alie’s rugby experience has afforded her the ability to travel both locally and abroad. “Besides these incredible experiences, I have also been able to travel with Atlantis to Paris, France for international competition against teams from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Most recently, this past March I traveled to London, England to train with the top English rugby players and coaches in the Premiership Rugby League.”

Back in January, Alie was interviewed regarding her upcoming England trip in New York City for Rugby Wrap-Up for their studio show on the Fantasy Sports Network. Check out that interview at

Alie is looking forward to the future and playing at USC. “Last year, the USC Women’s Rugby team moved from Division II to Division I in the Mason-Dixon Conference. As the program continues to grow, I’m really looking forward to bringing my experiences to the team and also learning many new skills from the Head Coach, Callie Woods.”

Woods too is looking ahead in hopes of adding Alie’s talent to an already impressive team sharing this about the athlete, “Alie Ramage is an incredibly talented and skillful rugby player. Through her high-level playing experience and numerous years of development as a rugby player, she will bring a lot of knowledge and experience to the team. I know she will be a huge asset to this team and the continuing development of the program for the next several years to come. I am excited for the opportunity to have her as a part of The University of South Carolina Women’s Rugby Club and I look forward to coaching her in the fall.”
