Six choirs from Roxbury High School traveled to Washington D.C. last weekend to compete in the Heritage Festival.

The competing choirs were Roxbury Men’s Choir, Melodies, Vocal Jazz, Revelation, Chorale, and Classic Sounds Honors under the direction of Mr. Patrick Hachey, Mrs. Krista Sweer, and Mr. R. Daniel Salyerds.

The choirs achieved six gold ratings, the Sweepstakes Award given to the highest combined total of two groups from one school, and the Best Overall Choir Award for Classic Sounds Honors.  After hearing Classic Sounds Honors, one of the judges remarked “I have not heard that from high schoolers ever in my life”.

Roxbury students also won four out of the six possible individual student achievement awards.  Choir members gaining these honors were Isabella Hermey (10), Jacob Wood (11), Kristin Andlauer (12), and Alexa Scano (12).

Congratulations to all of the students on these fantastic achievements!
