The Roxbury High School Instrumental Music department will be holding a Roxbury Instrument Test Drive for all 4th grade students.
This event is designed as an “open house” style – come and visit any time that is convenient for you and your family between 4-7 p.m. in the Roxbury High School cafeteria located at 1 Bryant Drive in Succasunna on Thursday, May 24th. RSVP at https://goo.gl/forms/Bmeap4rsv8UfU9Qh2.
Our goal at the Instrument Test Drive is to expose your child to the instruments that are available next year and your child will have the opportunity to play each one. A teacher will guide your child through a few basic steps of creating an initial sound on each instrument. As teachers, we want to match your child to an instrument where he or she will find success!
Over the past few weeks in 4th grade chorus classes, students had an opportunity to meet Lincoln/Roosevelt music teachers, Ray Henricksen and Kate Katz and watch a short video introducing several instruments. On May 21st and 22nd, all fourth-grade students will attend an Instrumental Music Assembly where they will see and hear the instruments live and in person! Students will also have another opportunity to meet our district instrumental music teachers, along with several Roxbury band and orchestra students.
The goal of the Instrumental Music Program is to team with parents, teachers, and the school to develop responsible, respectful, confident, and creative students. The high standards of excellence facilitate musical growth both individually on an instrument and in ensembles.
We look forward to working together in order to provide the best possible experience for all of our students. If you and your child cannot attend the Instrument Test Drive, information regarding signups and instrument requests will be communicated through your child’s general music teacher. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
We are looking forward to meeting you at the Roxbury Instrument Test Drive!
