The Clean Communities program is a comprehensive litter abatement program serving New Jersey residents and visitors for over 25 years. The basic mission is to reduce litter in public places, promote the volunteer cleanup of public lands and sustain a reduction in litter through education.

Roxbury Clean Communities has a simple and fun way to be a part of our community. We are looking for individuals, school groups, churches, or businesses willing to donate some time to continue to keep Roxbury beautiful.

Adopt-a-Road – Pledge to adopt a public roadway in the Township and make at least two (2) clean ups each year. Clean Communities will supply you with gloves, bags, vests and Litter Patrol signs as needed.

Adopt-a-Spot – Pledge to adopt a public spot, such as an area in a park and make at least two (2) clean ups and/or beautification improvements each year. Clean Communities will supply you with bags and gloves as needed.

The Township will collect the bagged litter once the clean-up is complete.

We are also encouraging teens to get a group together and fulfill some hours for community service requirements (looks good on a college or job application). New to the program this year, we are considering providing mini-grants for non-profit group on a first come, first served basis as well as other means of acknowledgment, such as a posted sign in the designated spot, write-ups with photo, and certificates celebrating the individuals, groups or businesses.

We are encouraging our residents to take pride in our town without out of pocket expenses. All you need is a few hours of time to take a walk with your family, get together with friends and make it fun!
