Our events and programs are open to Roxbury and non-Roxbury residents. Here's what we have lined up so far. More information on these camps are below.

Campers Ages 3-5 (PreK-K)
This program is designed to meet the developmental needs of the students. Each day the program meets, a variety of components are integrated into the course of the day. These components include, but are not limited to morning meeting, literacy lesson, which integrates the curriculum areas, gross motor/movement lesson, fine motor development through a variety of hands-on projects, reinforcement of socialization and life skills. This program will include music, dance, free play, story time, arts, and crafts! Please note all children MUST be toilet trained and 3 years old as of October 1, 2017. 
 
Campers - Grades 1-8
With a focus on fun, students engage in hands-on academic and social activities to enhance their skills and make long-lasting friendships. Children will be exposed to engaging cross-curricular activities including but not limited to ELA, math, art, science, and computer literacy. Children will participate in specialized activities and trips each week all included in the cost of tuition. 
The staff to student ratio is constantly monitored to provide a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for the children.

Broadway Bound/Behind the Curtain 
(Grades 4-9)
Broadway Bound Camp
Get ready to delve into the theatre, as we prepare for a performance of Once on this Island Jr. Students will learn dialogue, music, blocking, and choreography, culminating in a public performance of this classic story at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27th. Attendance is a major factor in the success of the show. Please plan on attending all scheduled camp days. This is a half-day 4-week program. 
DATES: July 2-July 30, 2018 (Monday-Friday)
LOCATION: Roxbury High School - Auditorium
TIMES: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. - Lunch break is from 11:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. each day
COST: $440 per student*
Behind the Curtain Camp
Put your creativity to work and see it put to wonderful use! Students will create scenery, masks and props for the musical show that will be performed by the BROADWAY BOUND students at the end of the summer program. Attendance is a major factor in the sucess of the show. Please plan on attending all scheduled camp days. Please pack a mid-afternoon snack for each day. This is a half-day 4-week program. 
DATES: July 2-July 30, 2018  (Monday-Friday)
LOCATION: Roxbury High School - Auditorium
TIMES: 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Please pack a mid-afternoon snack for each day
COST: $385 per student*

Girls Field Hockey Camp with Coach Norgard
Roxbury Field Hockey Camp is open to girls presently in grades 4-7 (going into 5th-8th grade next year). This camp will be an introduction to the game of field hockey, basic skills, rules, positions, and gameplay. Campers will enjoy individual and team skill stations and will experience exposure to game-like settings. All participants will receive a camp tee shirt if registered by June 22nd. Camp staff includes Roxbury High School field hockey coaches and current Roxbury High School players.

Mad Science - August Summer Camps
Mad Science brings kids the fun, the amazement and the wonder of all things science.

WEEK 1: FULL DAY CAMP - Monday, July 30 thru Friday, August 3, 2018
Brixology (Morning) Invention-ation! (Afternoon)
This STEM program allows kids to step into the shoes of an engineer by using LEGO® bricks to build a different engineering-themed projects in each class; exploring engineering fields including mechanical, structural, aerospace, nautical, and bioengineering; using critical thinking, cooperation, and creative problem-solving to test and improve creations; and experiencing extended learning with a take-home project to reinforce each concept. Campers will overcome a series of challenges using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors, and the most important of all -- their minds! With a little bit of ingenuity, campers will create catapults and forts, construct working light sticks and bring home a set of circuits with batteries and light bulbs. While Thomas Edison said that invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration, this camp is 100% FUN!

Slimy Potions* Spy Academy
Let's explore the depths of the Mad Science Laboratory where we harness the marvelous powers of liquids! In our Mad Science lab we will explore the PH Scale, participate in the Dry Ice Capades, and the Slime Olympics! Learn the secret of making tootsie rolls at home! Make bath fizzers, sidewalk chalk, and more! Join us for a Mad "hands-on" experience as a Junior Mad Scientist!

Step into the shoes of a detective-uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis. Get into gear with Agent Undercover and learn what it takes to be successful in the spy world. Connect the dots using science to help solve a crime in a hands-on investigation of the science of sleuthing. Test your skills and learn how the pros do it through careful observation and techniques to handle evidence properly. Analyze clues and get hot on the trail of a culprit with the Crime Lab program. It's all here at the Mad Science Academy!

NASA Academy of Future Space Explorers Fantastic Forces!
Students set off on a voyage to discover the Solar System. We will explore topics such as Planets and Moons, Sun and Stars, Space Phenomena, Rocket Science and Space Travel, Space Technology and Living in Space! Our camp culminates with a rocket launch or two and each camper will make their own Mad Science Rocket to take home! This camp is extremely awesome! Learn all about electricity, its properties and how we use it every day! Jump in and investigate inertia, gravity, and centripetal force. Let's join Bernoulli and Newton as we look into their work in aerodynamics and the properties of air! We will play Mad Science Air Hockey, Generate Vortex generators, and defy gravity as we levitate a ping pong ball! Don't crack as we come Under Pressure! We might even show you some of the scientific secrets of weather and magnets!
WEEK 4: FULL DAY CAMP - Monday, August 20 thru Friday, August 24, 2018
Experimentamania Mad vs. Wild
Let's Experiment! We will explore optical illusions, learn some of the secrets of kitchen chemistry, and the senses and heat! Just when they thought they've had all the awesome science they can handle, its time for Mad Machines, bugs and electricity! We will also explore the amazing forces of nature and so much more! Fun Take Home included! Let's start with the basics of the scientific method! What does a scientist use to gather information and make decision? We'll investigate Animal Tracks, analyze owl pellets, create tie-dye t-shirts, and learn about bugs and insects!
STEM Challenge Camp (Grades 2-6)
Join us for a week of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. Students in grades 2-6 will complete a diverse set of STEAM challenges throughout the week. Challenges include: 
  • Think outside of the box! Build towers, bridges, and structures using everyday household items.
  • Imagine life as a pirate! Create boats, catapults, and marshmallow shooters.
  • Enjoy some Summer Fun building Ferris wheels, roller coasters, and water slides.
  • Get competitive with Sports Challenges! Create a basketball free throw shooter, football goal post & kicker, and soccer goal & goalie.
  • Explore renewable energy with our Earth Series! Create windmills and wind-powered cars and boats.
  • Tinker with Circuits and Electricity!
  • Have fun learning to code and animate a simple game using Scratch! 
Campers should bring a white t-shirt to decorate and commemorate our week on the first day. Campers should also bring lunch, snack, and a water bottle daily. Wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing to adventure outside at Horseshoe Lake. Pack a bathing suit, towel, and snack money for two trips to Horseshoe Lake to enjoy the beach and swimming!

The Great Outdoors Summer Camp (Grades 2-6)
Explore the great outdoors and all the beauty nature has to offer right here in Roxbury at Horseshoe Lake. Students in grades 2-6 will enjoy a rich ecological study of the outdoors:
  • Investigate the impacts of pollution on the watershed and our local water systems
  • Test the water quality of Horseshoe Lake. Participate in a field study of the diverse organisms found living in Horseshoe Lake including fish, macro-invertebrates, plankton, and aquatic vegetation.
  • Catch and identify fish and plankton using self-created devices.
  • Use microscopes to examine the microscopic world.
  • Hike through the local trails to identify the birds, trees, and fungus found amongst us.
  • Create a simple water filtration system using household items.
  • See the world through the eyes of a bird! Challenge yourself to feast like a bird, and explore how a bird adapts to survive. Then, build a bird's nest using only materials found in nature.
  • Enjoy Fish Fashion! Create a t-shirt using Gyotaku, the Japanese Fine Art of Fish Print. Build a three-dimensional fish out of paper using your knowledge of fish adaptations.
  • Participate in the live Wildlife Museum! Dress up like your favorite organism. Be the expert and share your knowledge with others!
Campers should bring a white t-shirt to decorate using Gyotaku, the Japanese Fine Art of Fish Print. Campers should also bring lunch, snack, and a water bottle daily. Additional footwear: Water shoes or old sneakers are recommended as shoes may get wet while studying the lake ecosystem. Wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing to adventure outside at Horseshoe Lake. Pack a bathing suit, towel, and snack money for two trips to Horseshoe Lake to enjoy the beach and swimming!

Tennis Camp with Coach Miller
The goal of Coach Miller's camp is to help build the sport of tennis in the Roxbury community. Coach Miller has a high level of enthusiasm and has experience instructing kids of all age groups. He loves teaching and coaching but most of all he wants to create a passion for a sport  that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. Three Weeks of Camps to choose from! Friday/Saturday rain date if needed.
Beginners to advanced players are welcome! Each camp will be grouped with other players at his/her skill level. Emphasis will be on drills, match play, strategy, and singles and doubles instruction. Camps will be held at Kiwanis Park off Eyland Avenue in Succasunna, NJ.

Tae Kwon Do with Sun Do Kwan (Ages 4+)
Enjoy a special tuition rate through the Roxbury Community School! Join SunDoKwan to learn Tae Kwon Do taught by traditional certified Tae Kwon Do masters. Groups are separated by age and experience. The minimum age to participate is 4 years old. Register through the Roxbury Community School by paying the $15 registration fee, then print and take your receipt to SunDoKwan to take advantage of the special rate! SunDoKwan is located at 1103 Route 46 West, Ledgewood, NJ, which is next to Dunkin Donuts near CVS and TGIFridays.
