Roxbury Marching Gaels Take Second Place in Group IV Open Competition and Win The Cadets Award of Excellence at US Bands Yamaha Cup, Saturday, October 14th at MetLife Stadium
The Roxbury Marching Gaels took on seven other bands from New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania this past weekend in the US Bands Yamaha Cup marching band competition held at MetLife Stadium, where almost 70 bands from the northeast competed.
The Marching Gaels took the field on a warm Saturday afternoon to perform their 2017 show "Ascend" in front of hundreds of spectators in Group IV Open competition, including many who made the trip from Roxbury.
Competing against other New Jersey marching bands such as Bridgewater-Raritan HS, Old Bridge HS, and Shawnee HS, Roxbury took home second place and The Cadets Award of Excellence. The Cadets Award for Excellence is given to select groups whose performance reflects the Cadets' strong tradition of creativity in design and effect and an overall pursuit of excellence.
Roxbury's Marching Gaels will return in two weeks to compete against those same New Jersey schools and others in the US Bands NJ State Championships held at Rutgers High Point Solutions Stadium on October 28, 2017.
