On Saturday May 6 a native plant sale to benefit the restoration of the Lake Hopatcong Station will be held from 9:00am until 1:00pm at the station, 125 Landing Road in Landing.
Over 25 varieties of native plants will be available, including aster, black eyed susan, coneflower, bluebell and harder to find items like Witch Hazel and New Jersey Tea.
The best part is that all of the plants on sale are originally native to this area and will need little care once they are established in your garden. Native plants provide essential habitat and food for birds, native bees, butterflies, and many mammals. By choosing native plants for your yard, you are not only helping wildlife, but also creating a healthier place for yourself, your family, and your community. The plants will be sold in quart-size containers. Please note that this will be a cash only sale to maximize proceeds for the restoration work.
Tours of the train station and ongoing restoration will also be available. Come on out, stock up on some great plants for your yard, and check out how our own native plant garden is blooming on the grounds of the train station!
