Roxbury High School Art Students Show and Place in Two Exhibitions

Art students from Roxbury High School recently showed work at two art exhibitions at the Power Art Building Gallery.

William Paterson University High School ArtStart Exhibition 2017 displayed pieces from January 21st through February 4th at the Power Art Building Gallery. Twenty-eight participating New Jersey high schools had artwork at the show.

MPAC Student Art Gallery Exhibit (pictured above left to right): Mrs. Monica Roman (RHS art teacher), Alex Freeman (Gr 12), Kate Rawlinson (Gr 10), Michelle Lad (Gr 10), Cyle Morris (Gr 11), Hannah Smith (Gr 9), Samantha Roy (Gr 9), and Kate McClosky (Gr 9).

Six seniors displayed artwork: Zoe Paxos, Kahli Suggs-Barnes, Flynn Forester, Jessica Schaub, Leanna Bacani, and Shannon Rickley.

Paxos earned first place for a black and white drawing of graphite on paper. Leanna Bacani and Kahli Suggs-Barnes placed second. Bacini for her oil paint on wood panels and Suggs-Barnes for her digital process of graphic design.

RHS students also showed work at the MPAC Student Art Gallery Exhibit in the 8th Annual Program Cover Art Contest. This year’s gallery and contest theme was “Imagine! Discover! Create!”.

The MPAC Student Art Gallery Exhibit is on display in the upstairs Art Gallery now through March 14th and will be seen by tens of thousands of theatre patrons.
