The Lake Hopatcong Foundation (LHF) is, once again, joining the Giving Tuesday campaign, a worldwide day of giving that encourages philanthropy and celebrates generosity. If we reach $5,000 this year it will be matched by a anonymous donor.
Rewinding back to April 2017 we asked our over 30,000 readers to vote daily to help the Lake Hopatcong Foundation (LHF) win a $50,000 grant from the USA Today Network. The Lake Hopatcong Foundation has received lots of great feedback from community members who have been hiking and enjoying the new Lake Hopatcong Trail. The first leg of the planned 40-mile trail stretches approximately 9 miles through the Borough of Hopatcong and was officially opened in September.
The state DEP’s Division of Fish and Wildlife plans to stock more than 20,000 trout in the state’s major trout waters, including a host of waters in Morris County and Northwest Jersey in early October. The fish will be stocked from the Pequest Trout Hatchery from Oct. 10-18, to offer some excellent fall fishing opportunities.
