The residents of Lake Hopatcong take their Bar crawl very seriously, as illustrated by the seasoned professionals in the picture above.
These seasoned professionals that participate every year, arrived at 11:00 AM sharp to start what could be up to fourteen hours of having fun with friends and neighbors around the lake. They took a brief moment for this picture, with the owner and mascot of Mason Street Pub and Marina.
This annual event started several years ago as a way to raise funds for the make-a-wish foundation. While the charity is no longer part of the tradition (due to legal/taxation issues), this end of the summer festivity draws over a hundred people annually as to a way to end the summer on a high note.
Again this year everything started at Mason Street Pub and Marina, where everyone starts with a good breakfast and then continued around the lake to the following locations: Upstream Grill, Tiny's, Windlass, Alices, Jefferson House, Pavinci, Patricks Pub and Back to Mason Street Pub for the last call at 1:00 AM.
When we asked the owner of Mason Street Pub and Marina, Herb Moore, “What is the condition of the people at the end of the event as they return for last call”. He just smiled and said, “Some people never make it back.” He was also quick to add, “It’s not really about the drinking with this group, but rather a way to end the summer supporting their favorite bartenders and servers that have served them all summer long. It’s a good group of people that like to support the community,”
If you’re interested in participating in this event next year you can follow the posting on their Facebook page “Lake Hopatcong Bar Crawl” to stay informed.
