Lake Hopatcong is halfway through its winter drawdown, with the Gauge at the dam measuring 8.07 feet as of 11/30/2019.

The Lake Hopatcong winter drawdown of 22” started on November 9, 2019 and is already down by 11 inches, with 11 more to go by December 15, 2019.

Starting on March 1, 20202 the condition of the lake and the ice will be monitored to see if the lake can regain the 22 inches to reach the 9-foot level by the start of boating season.

The purpose of the drawdowns is for maintenance reasons, weed reduction and it also protects docks from ice damage in the winter.
