Lake Hopatcong seeing 62% Increases in Phycocyanin – But Lake is VERY MUCH Open

On Tuesday, July 23rd and the 24th the NJDEP followed through with testing in more areas to see if sections of the lake could be opened, and aerial observations.

The final results show the levels are headed in the wrong direction. As you can see from the table below on average the Phycocyanin increased by 62 percent on Average

This DOES NOT MEAN that the lake is closed, as you can Boat, Fish, Canoe, Kayak. And go to the restaurants, bars, free outdoor concerts and just generally have fun. The NJDEP just recommends that you minimize your exposure to the water.
