Good News: NJ State Powerboat Championships back for 2018

In mid-September the Hopatcong State Park will be filled the thrill and the excitement of national power boat championship on September 15th and 16th.

The races, sanctioned by the American Power Boat Association, are for the New Jersey State Championships, which means that racing teams can important points for winning National titles, so expect the boats to go all-out to win this top class event.

The races run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and there is a suggested $10 donation for spectators.

For these races, the New Jersey State Power Boat Championships will feature the “Inboard” and Stock Outboard” categories. Competing boats are divided into classes based on hull size, type, weight, engine size, and modifications allowed.

The race length is five miles long, with racers taking five trips around a mile long course in full view of the spectators. As the course at the Lake Hopatcong State Park offers wider turns, while still keeping the boats far enough off shore to keep spectators safe. Plus, the sloped lawn at the state park offers an excellent and unique view of the boats as they come towards the spectators while on the front straight and go through turn one.

$5,000 dollars will be Divided among all classes that have 4 legal starters this is per day for a total of $10,000 prize money for the weekend
NEW JERSEY GOVERNORS CUP will be a separate trophy and money , and the parameters for this will be announced at drivers meeting
Awards will be given 1 hour after last heat under pavilion.

Friday, September 14th-at Pits 6pm-8pm
Saturday, September 15th- at Pits 7am-8:30am
Sunday, September 16th- at the pits- drivers and riders must check in at the pavilion between 8am-9am

** There is no testing on Friday.

** Pets must be on a leash at all times
** No alcoholic beverages permitted in the state park
** APBA dress code and pit pass procedures will be enforced
