As the Lake Region gets ready for the big Chili Cook-Off coming up this Sunday, Hopatcong Lake Regional News had a chance to catch up with Team Patrick’s Pub.

This annual event now in its sixth-year and features residents around the lake to see who has the best homemade chili.

Leap in the Lake“This is an exciting time for our team as we are trying to raise as much money as possible for our Leap in the Lake, and the Special Needs Children at Camp Moore. Last year we had 20 people on our team that jumped into the frigid waters of Lake Hopatcong. And this year we hope to have even more people. It feels good to know you are helping children who need assistance.” Stated Larry Bellack Jr. Captain of Patrick’s Pub leap in the lake team as he gets ready for his sixth leap in the lake.

“Our group started the Chili Cook-off for the Leap in the Lake six years ago when we were Team Castaway, after Castaway closed we did not want to stop supporting the Elks so Ken approached Patrick and Adrian to see if they would be interested in being our host restaurant.  Patrick and Adrian are very community committed and said yes without hesitation.” Added Jean Burk-Ujvary

“We really have to say a big thank you to Patrick’s Pub and their staff; they have been absolutely fabulous in their support of us and this cause.” Quickly added Larry

Everyone is Welcome to attend this Free Event:

Everyone on the Team Patrick’s Pub encourages the community to come out for this fun event and taste the different chili offerings for free. “Everything we do is for the community, and without their past support we could not have achieved everything we have done for these special needs kids. Being more involved is absolutely amazing, last year the money we raised went towards the Water Park at Camp Moore that is wheelchair friendly.
