New in 2018, the Lake Hopatcong Foundation, in cooperation with NJ DEP Division of Parks and Forestry, will be coordinating and offering community programming at Hopatcong State Park.
The first program, Ice Fishing 101, will be hosted by the Knee Deep Club on Sunday, February 4 at 10:00 am. In the event of inclement weather or poor ice conditions, the program will be rescheduled to Sunday, February 11.
The free 90-minute program will cover ice fishing basics and safety. Learn tips, tricks and tactics and what tackle and equipment is needed. Participants will meet at the Hopatcong State Park beach area near the boat launch before walking out onto the ice-covered lake.
Ice fishing equipment will be provided by Knee Deep Club members for use during this catch and release program. Participants should dress accordingly for the weather, wear appropriate footwear and if possible bring ice safety picks.
To register for the Ice Fishing 101 program, send your name, phone number and email address to firstname.lastname@example.org or call the LHF office at 973-663-2500 by Thursday, February 1. In the event the program is rescheduled or cancelled due to inclement weather or poor ice conditions, the LHF will contact registrants directly.
We will be announcing future community programming at the Hopatcong State Park in our e-newsletter and on social media.
