Jefferson Township Fire Company No. 1’s firehouse at 162 Milton Road will be transformed into The Village Marketplace with 18 arts, crafts, and merchandise vendors during The Jefferson Arts Committee’s 12th annual Christmas in the Village event on Saturday, December 2 from 10 am to 4 pm.  Located in the historically designated Village of Milton in the Milton/Oak Ridge section of Jefferson Township, admission is free as is parking.

Legislation sponsored by Senate Republicans Anthony Bucco, Steven Oroho and Joe Pennacchio to establish the “Lake Hopatcong Fund” has passed the Senate Environment Committee. The bill still has a way to go to get through the legislative approval process, but this is excellent news.

Panfish Contest

Knee Deep ClubThe Knee Deep Club held their first Panfish Contest over the weekend, and they are placed to announce the following Winners.

  • First place went to Max Hughen with 10 points winning him the grand prize of $295.
  • Second place went to John Moran with 8 points, winning him $178.
  • Third place went to Al Tuorinsky. He won $119 with 5 points. 

Next Contest:

The Knee Deep Club’s next contest is set for June 25, this being for Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass. There will be cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers, and rod and reel combos will go to 4th thru 6th places. Mark your calendar now !!!

Other Fishing News:

Night time action has started with several nice walleyes being caught on Bombers. Kris Bak weighed in with his largest at 7 lbs 6 oz. And we are seeing quite a few fish in the 3 and 4 pound range.

We are seeing a lot of nice Hybrids, being caught on herring. Dick Pedati had a 7 lb 6 oz caught on bait, and another while trolling weighing in at 8 lb 2 oz. Pete Pantelis and his friend Chris Baldino had several nice Hybrids, their largest fish weighing 7 lbs 12 oz and 8 lbs 8 oz and their biggest walleye weighing 4 lbs 5 oz. Jerry Freeman’s Hybrid hit the scales at 6 lb 10 oz. and Jim Welsh’s largest for the week was 8 lb 10 oz. Dominic Sarinelli made his way to the scales with a 7 lb 12 oz Hybrid along with another 8 pounder. There was also a 6 lb 2 oz walleye weighed in.
