On Sunday April 2, 2017 the Non-Profit Knee Deep Club stocked Lake Hopatcong with over 1,000 trout (from 11 to 26 inches) just six days before the fishing season starts.
The trout were provided by Musky Trout Hatchery in Asbury, and they are part of the annual season gets underway at 8 a.m. Saturday April 8. 2017. As Lake Hopatcong is a major draw from fisherman across the Northern East Coast.
According to Jay Thomas. a fisherman that has been coming to Lake Hopatcong for the last six years. “I really enjoy fishing this lake, as it provides some of the best fishing, and while I’m waiting for that first bite, I enjoy the picturesque view of the lake.”
Part of a Larger Fish Stocking:
The work that the Knee Deep Club does for Lake Hopatcong is in addition to the work from the state Department of Environmental Protection (EPA), which will have stocked lakes across the state with over 180,000 fish for the opening of the season.
