As Lake Hopatcong Cruises briefed the Hopatcong Borough Council on March, 1 2017 and they covered several reoccurring and new events for 2017, plus two improvements for the Veterans Cruise in 2017.
Amber who is the assistant Manager of the Miss Lotta – Lake Hopatcong Cruises addressed the council to cover the 2017 season on the lake.
There are a lot of events that we are bringing back from last year, and some new events for this year.
- This year we will continue “Live from the Lake”, which was a Hugh a success from last year, where our lake homeowners on the lake come out and do a skit for the people on the boat. The homeowners love this as well as the passengers on the boat.
- Again this year we will offer, the “Blast from the Past Hotel Cruise” that covers the Hotels that were around the lake in the past, and what the lake was like during that time. This is a two and a half hour cruise.
- New this year, we will be adding a “Home Tour” as we have had a lot of interest in past cruises on who owns these homes, the architecture and the story behind the scenes. So we are hoping that the owners will come out to greet the people, and share the information about their homes. They may also record the information if they wish.
- We will also being doing a "Stargazing Cruise," which features the night-time sky.
We have a lot of great cruises planned for 2017 that feature how beautiful this lake really is…
Last year the Veterans Cruise was a big hit, as the amount of support that we had from the communities was outstanding. There were a ton of people on shore, for example, Pavinci Italian Grill had the Boy Scouts on the shore waving the flags and supporting the Veterans. It was really an incredible day, and it showed the Veterans how important they are to us!
In 2017 each of the 4 lake communities will be able to nominate 24 Veterans to be on the cruise. We will have two cruises, the first one starting at 9:00 to 10:30 AM for Jefferson and Mount Arlington, and the second one will be from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM for Roxbury and Hopatcong.
Lee Moreau, talked a little more about the Veterans Cruise and about how to make this event even better this year.
“One of the problems we observed from last year, was the families couldn’t participate. So, for 2017 one of the major changes is a BBQ afterwards, where the family members as join the Veterans and celebrate the day together.”
“In addition, since we have two cruises, we need to make sure that the people along the shore know the different times, as last year some of the spots were empty on the second cruise.”
