The Jefferson Arts Committee (JAC) belatedly is announcing its Student Artists of the Month for the month of November 2019. The students who were chosen by their art teachers to be recognized for outstanding work on a class art project were:
- RJ Johnson – Arthur Stanlick School
- Lillian Burnett-Jaremcak – Ellen T. Briggs School
- Jackson Ayers, Kamila Gomez, and Samarah Vigil – Jefferson Township Middle School
- Anthony Argondizzo, Morgan Boyd, Matt Moran, Paulo Piedade, and Richard White – Jefferson Township Middle School
The JAC’s Student Artists of the Month program was conceived by former president Jack Kelly more than a decade ago to recognize the township’s talented art students. The school district’s art teachers choose one or two outstanding pieces of artwork from their students on a monthly basis and submit them to the JAC where the works are displayed for one month at the Jefferson Township Public Library. November’s chosen students, accompanied by their families and friends, were invited to the Library for the awards presentation, and each winner was recognized with a certificate and a medal for outstanding achievement by the JAC’s Student Artists of the Month Committee Chairman Jason Nicholas, and Jefferson Township High School’s art teacher Karen Correia.
The participating teachers for the 2019-2020 school year are Jennifer Tamayne-Hettema (White Rock, Cozy Lake, and Milton), Karen Frelinghuysen (Ellen T. Briggs and Arthur Stanlick), Denise Morando (Middle School), and Karen Correia, David DeVries, and Renee Simler (High School).
The Jefferson Arts Committee thanks the Jefferson Township Public Library for allowing use of their facility to exhibit the students’ artwork and host the monthly presentations.
