Lake Hopatcong, N.J. - Bridge Marina awarded its 2019 “Bridge Marina Scholarship” to Corbin Rees at its Labor Day event earlier this month.

For the past 13 years, Bridge Marina has awarded a monetary scholarship to one of its staff members in recognition of his or her outstanding performance, attitude and commitment to customer service. The award winner selection is based partially on feedback from Bridge Marina dock slip and boating club members as well.

Rees joined the Bridge Marina team earlier this spring. Guests will most often him find assisting Boating Club members and Boat Rental clients, ensuring they enjoy a safe, comfortable boating experience on Lake Hopatcong. Rees can also be found on the fuel dock helping boaters land their craft. About his work at Bridge Marina, Rees said, “I enjoy the amazing people I work with and the great sense of being not only part of a team, but part of a family. I’d like to thank everyone at Bridge Marina for helping me learn the ropes this season.”

About choosing Rees for the award, Dennis McCormick, assistant general manager of Bridge Marina, said, “Choosing just one of our team members to receive this award is always a challenge; we have a great team every season. However, Corbin’s eagerness to learn more about boats and the marine industry is admirable. He has been a great addition to our team this year, has learned a lot very quickly and is passionate about his role at Bridge Marina.”

Rees, 25, also serves as a volunteer firefighter and currently lives in Allamuchy, N.J. During his time away from the marina, he enjoys hiking, driving cars, and boats.

Past recipients of the Bridge Marina scholarship include Jefferson Township residents Ben Castrogiovanni, Heather LaRose, William Caruso, Daniel Mickel, Dennis McCormick, Tom Jauch, and Scott King, as well as Sparta Township resident Andy Richards.
