NJ Herald: Fishing boat strikes two kayakers on Lake Hopatcong

HOPATCONG -- State police are investigating after a fishing boat struck two kayakers in the area of Bertrand Island on Lake Hopatcong Saturday evening, causing injuries to one.

Around 9:35 p.m., the New Jersey State Police Marine Unit responded to the lake in the area of 17 Portside Road, located across from Bertrand Island, for a report of a boat that struck two separate kayakers, according to State Police Sgt. Lawrence Peele.

One of the kayakers was not injured but a second one, identified as Margaret Nix, 22, of Stanhope, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries,
