Wednesday Night Crash on Rt 15 N Brings out the Hazmat Crews

On Wednesday, April 26, 2018, approximately 8:40pm, PO Robert Coyle responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 15 North, in Jefferson Township.

A passenger vehicle and an oil tanker were involved in a motor vehicle crash, which resulted in the oil tanker leaking diesel fuel on the roadway. There were no injuries.

Both lanes of the northbound highway were closed until about 1 a.m. when the left lane was reopened.

The incident was fully cleared at 4 a.m.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

The following agencies assisted in this incident, Jefferson Township Fire Department Companies 1 and 2, Jefferson Township Rescue Squad, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, the New Jersey Department of Transportation, New Jersey State Police and area hazmat crews.
