Jefferson Garage Fire Under Control

Due to the quick actions of the Jefferson Township Police and Fire Departments, a major loss for the area was diverted.

From Jefferson Township Police:

On February 23, 2018 at approximately 9:28 am, the Jefferson Township Police Department received a report of a structure fire located at 248a Espanong Road.

P.O. John Ondish responded and upon his arrival a large detached garage was engulfed in flames. At the time of his arrival, the sole occupant was out of the garage. No one was injured.

Jefferson Township Fire Company 1 & 2, Jefferson Rescue Squad, Mt. Arlington Fire, Sparta Fire, Picatinny Fire, Morris County Hazmat, responded and brought the fire under control at about 10:30 am.

The Morris County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit responded. The cause of the fire is under investigation, by D/Sgt. Sean Krater and Detective Timothy Hecht; however the origin appears to be connected to a work being conducted in the garage.
