Breaking News: Lake Hopatcong Snowmobile driver killed in crash

Jefferson and State Police are investigating a snowmobile crash on Lake Hopatcong that killed the driver early Sunday at 2:00 AM.

The crash involved one person and one vehicle – with no other people or vehicles involved sometime before 2 AM on Sunday. The accident occurred around Nolan's Point Park Road in the Jefferson Township portion of Lake Hopatcong, according to our sources at Jefferson Township Police.

The State Police Marine Division was called out to assist in the recovery. Jefferson Police Officer Joseph Kratzel, said information is expected to be released Sunday morning. It was not immediately clear whether the crash occurred on or around the shoreline of the lake.
