April 25, 2020: Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Acting Chief of Investigations Christoph Kimker, and Jefferson Township Police Chief Sean Conrad announce and confirm an ongoing investigation into a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred on Berkshire Valley Road in Jefferson Township.

One of the newest members of the Jefferson Township Police Christopher Smolt (started 12/2019), and graduate of Jefferson Township High School was able to put his training to the test as he dealt with an unconscious man and possible drug overdose.

The Morris County Sheriff’s Office Hope One mobile addiction resource and recovery program has temporarily suspended community stops due to the Coronavirus outbreak but telephone assistance for individuals struggling with substance use and mental health disorders remains available through Hope One’s partner agencies.

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp, Acting Chief of Investigations Chris Kimker, and Jefferson Township Police Department Chief Sean Conrad announce that Richard Perry, age 49, of Oak Ridge, N.J. was sentenced on March 20, 2020 by the Honorable David H. Ironson, J.S.C. to eight (8) years in New Jersey State Prison on two second degree Sexual Assault charges and four (4) years New Jersey State Prison on a third degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child charge.
