The Hopatcong Schools united with schools across Sussex County again this year to celebrate the Week of Respect. Throughout the week a variety of programs were arranged to encourage positive behaviors and to support anti-bullying.

On Tuesday, October 18th, Hudson Maxim School unveiled their newest addition to the playground, Alex's Buddy Bench. The bench is dedicated to Alexandra Cafferata, a Hudson Maxim Kindergartener in 2013 who lost her battle with pediatric cancer that year.

Hopatcong Mayor Sylvia Petillo is running for Sussex County freeholder and is teaming up with Freeholder George Graham in his re-election bid. If she is successful in her run for this position, that means that Hopatcong would be without a mayor for an interim period of time.
