On Monday, February 27, the Hopatcong Marching Chiefs rocked "The Rock" at last night’s NJ Devils game.

The workshop, “Introduction to High Quality Arts Integration” focused on how these veteran music teachers have successfully collaborated with teachers in their district to increase student engagement and creativity across the curriculum.
Art teachers from the Joe Kubert Art School presented a workshop for STEAM Academy and Honors Art students on Thursday, February 16.
Congratulations to Hopatcong High School ninth grader Amanda Sutton who auditioned for and was accepted into the Region 1 (North Jersey) Junior Region Honors Band on Saturday, February 4 held at Clifton High School.
Over 150 ninth graders competed from Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and Warren Counties, and 70 students were selected to participate in the honors band.
She participated in five rehearsals and performed a concert on Sunday, March at Madison Junior School under the direction of David Martin, adjunct professor of music at Sussex County Community College and longtime public school music teacher. Amanda plays flute in the high school Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, Holiday Ensemble, and Pep Band.

The following is a brief overview of the planned agenda items for the next meeting of the Hopatcong Council.
Students were busy collecting data and experimenting in Mrs. Carmela Catizone’s Classroom at Durban Avenue School in Hopatcong on February 23, 2017.
On February 19, 2017 the Hopatcong Fire Department conducted their ice rescue training drill near the River Styx Bridge. A few hours later they were back for a real rescue.
While this event is not scheduled to occur until May 13th, 2017, we thought that the residents of the Lake Community may need an early heads-up in order to support this important event!
Tuesday, February 28th is Rare Diseases Day. This event is celebrated globally on the last day in February since its European inception in 2008.
Hudson Maxim School is proud to announce our Love of Literacy! This fun filled family night, on February 16, 2017, was an opportunity for families to come out and explore their love of reading and literacy through a variety of activities and centers.
The Hopatcong Borough Schools became a Kindness Certified School District for the second year in a row, after all school took part in the Great Kindness Challenge from January 23-27, 2017.
