The Borough of Hopatcong went all out this week to thank five members of Troup 88 for all of their hard work throughout the town, and to recognize their achievement of earning the Arrow of Light Rank within the Cub Scouts.
The Arrow of Light Award is the highest rank in Cub Scouting. Earning this rank prepares a Webelo Scout to become a Boy Scout. Webelos who have earned the Arrow of Light Award have also completed all requirements to become a Boy Scout. The seven rays of the Arrow of Light represent wisdom, courage, self-control, justice, faith, hope, and love.

Pack 88 Arrow of Light Ceremony:
February 13, 2021, was the date of the Pack 88 Arrow of Light Ceremony, where they braved the cold to hold the traditional crossing of the bridge from Cub Scouts into Boy Scouts,
“All 5 of these boys have been in Pack 88 since their first rank of Tiger, which is first grade. After 5 years and some of which was during a pandemic, they completed all their requirements, along with earning NOVA awards and their Emergency Preparedness award. On top of all that their community service hours earned them all necessary service awards. They accomplished so many things and it’s a real example of how amazing Scouting is. We are extremely proud that all of them will continue their Scouting journey in our local Troop 88.” Stated Pack 88’s Keri Hanlon. |
This Ceremony will mark the passage of the five scouts into the Hopatcong Boy Scout Troop 88, where we know that will continue to thrive and flourish as youth within our community.
