After being trapped in the house for over four months, watching everything get cancelled, it’s good to see live outdoor events occurring that provide a safe social distancing environment for everyone to enjoy.
While planned by different organizations the Borough of Hopatcong will have three Block Buster events this weekend, well worth your time (bring your masks).
First Event: Hometown Hero Banners Unvailed:
The Hopatcong Beautification sub-committee is ready to release the first set of Hometown Hero banners that have been printed so far. To celebrate this great occasion, they have announced that 31 banners will be revealed on Saturday, and they will be honoring about 36 Military personnel. They will provide a short ceremony to honor our Military & Tour the new Hometown Hero Banners

What is the Hopatcong Hometown Hero Banner Program?
The “Hopatcong Hometown Hero” banner program will place 48 Banners saluting present and prior military veterans along Hopatchung Road This new program allows residents to sponsor one of the poles with a 24” x 48” banner that contains the picture, name, rank, and years served for the military veteran. The banner will hang for two years between Memorial Day until after Veterans Day and then returned to the sponsor as a keep-sake.
Second Event: Concert with Two Bands playing at Maxim Glen Park
The Borough of Hopatcong Recreation Department is planning two bands to be held at Maxim Glen Park (Gazebo Area) on August 1, 2020, starting at 1:00 PM.Please remember to bring your lawn-chairs, and all masks and social distancing rules need to be followed.

The First Band: Bom-Jazz-Tics:
According to Hopatcong Music teacher Legend Kurt Zimmermann, The Hopatcong Community "Bom-Jazz-Tics", is a community ensemble comprised of high school musicians, alumni, and community members. They have already had several practices, and Mr. Zimmermann is promising a show to remember.
The Second Band: Black Tie Groove:
Black Tie Groove is an exclusive, full-service entertainment band specializing in live music for all events, locally in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Connecticut.
As one of the Top Rated Bands in the Northeast, they bring a high energy experience to each event, with the right balance of sophistication and polish. Third Event: Hopatcong Marketplace
The Hopatcong Marketplace had 37 vendors last week, with a good crowd of socially distanced people wearing masks. This week they are featuring “Day at the Beach” and are promising Mermaids & Pirates to entertain the shoppers.
The Hopatcong Marketplace has already proven that it is the place to be on Saturdays between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, as you meet friends, neighbors, buy produce and browse through some very unique gifts.
