Through the hard work of the Hopatcong Environmental Commission, the Borough of Hopatcong has gained its third Bronze Certification in the Sustainable Jersey program.

On December 11, 2019, Sustainable Jersey reported that Hopatcong Borough in Sussex County was certified with 260 points, which was well beyond the 150 points needed for the Bronze Certification. It should be further noted that Hopatcong is one of only three certified communities in Sussex County (Sparta and Vernon being the two others).

In recognition of their efforts, Jule Girman and the Hopatcong Environmental Commission were recognized by both the Mayor and Council. This included the appointment of Jule Girman from the Hopatcong Environmental Commission to the Sustainable New Jersey position. (Play Video)

In a recent Facebook post, the Hopatcong Environmental Commission stated, “We have our eyes set on Silver for 2020.”

Which includes financial resources in the form of grants and incentives, and technical support in the form of training, access to support organizations, and guidance material.
