Today is Hopatcong Chiefs Marching Band Day in the Borough of Hopatcong!

During the December 4, 2019 meeting of the Hopatcong Borough Council the Mayor recognized the award winning Hopatcong Chiefs Marching Band with the following Proclamation that named today as Hopatcong Chiefs Marching Band Day in the Borough of Hopatcong.

Proclamation for Hopatcong Chiefs Marching Band




WHEREAS, the Hopatcong Chiefs Marching Band consists of 50 student musicians, grades 8-12 from the Hopatcong High School, and

WHEREAS, the Band can be found at every varsity football game and also town and county events including parades and celebrations, and

WHEREAS, the Marching Band Performed at the events listed below

  • Hopatcong Chiefs Marching Band Movie CoverHappy Birthday and ’Smokey the Bear Campfire Song" for the Smokey Bear 75th Birthday at Liberty State Park - August 10
  • The National Anthem at the Somerset Patriots - August 28
  • At 10 High School Varsity Football games, pre-game, halftime and or in the stands (September - November)
  • At the Warriors Pep Rally - September 8
  • The National Anthem for the Hopatcong Hawks Opening Day Sept. 21
  • At the Food Truck Festival - September 28
  • At Randolph Under the Stars Band Festival- 1st in division, earning awards for best music, best visual, best color guard and best percussion - October 5
  • At the 99th Annual Sussex County Fireman’s Parade- First Place Best Appearing Band - October 5
  • At the Hopatcong Halloween Parade (in costume) - October 13
  • At the New Jersey Music Educators Association State Band Festival - Silver Rating, recognized for Outstanding Saxophone Section and Ballet Feature - October 19
  • At the High School Fall Pep Rally - October 25
  • At West Point, with other area Bands and the West Point Cadet Band for a halftime show at the Army Football Game vs. San Jose State - Oct. 26
  • At the Sussex County Veterans Day Parade at Sussex County Fairgrounds - November 3

NOW THEREFORE I, Michael Francis, Mayor of the Borough of Hopatcong do hereby Proclaim December 5, 2019 as Hopatcong Chiefs Marching Band Day in the Borough of Hopatcong.
