The Hopatcong School District reinforced that Kindness Matters during the “Start with Hello” week long activity that started on September 23, 2019.
Hopatcong students joined together to fill out a box with what makes them smile at the High School.
Tulsa Trail students greeted an astonishing 2,681 people with Hello in just one school day!
Each student at Tulsa and Durban tallied their “Hellos” and submitted them to their teachers at the end of the school day. Mrs. Pagano’s class at Durban said “hello” to the highest number of people!
Tuesday, September 24, 2019 Durban Avenue and Tulsa Trail students filled our school with the color green to support the Sandy Hook Promise.
Kindness is always a focus at Hopatcong Schools. We celebrated our good character by demonstrating Random Acts of Kindness throughout the buildings on Wednesday, September 25, 2019. Kindness Matters Always and In All Ways!
On September 26, 2019 Durban Avenue and Tulsa Trail Students participated in Childhood Cancer Awareness Day by wearing yellow. Each classroom with glowing! We are here to support our community and children who are diagnosed with cancer. Our students proved to be united and compassionate with this event.
Ms. Christina Takacs, School Counselor at Tulsa Trail, also worked with several classes to help spread kindness to children diagnosed with cancer. Students created cards with love and creativity. The inspiring creations will be sent to The Valerie Center in Morristown Pediatric Cancer Center. We are hoping our homemade cards will bring happiness to many children.
To conclude our week, we celebrated a worldwide event called Character Day. The students enhanced their character development by pledging to link together along with staff members to show good character. The links were unified and placed around the Kindness Kastle at Tulsa Trail and across the front hallway at Durban Avenue.
Thank you for letting us celebrate this wonderful week with your children!
