On Thursday, January, 3rd, Mrs. Mendyk’s 4th graders celebrated their professional published narrative writing pieces.

Authors DayAs part of the Writer’s Workshop narrative writing unit, the students disguised a turkey in order to save it from becoming Thanksgiving Dinner. They then wrote narratives from the turkey’s perspective explaining how and why they came up with their disguise.

After revising and editing their stories, each class created a book that was published! Students had the opportunity to showcase their story to their families during our Author’s Celebration.

Each student and their family got a hard-covered, professionally bound book to keep.
