Two Hopatcong Students accepted by North Jersey Honors Band

Hopatcong students Jennifer Coulman (Trumpet, Senior) and Teresa Turnage (Trombone, Junior) auditioned for and were accepted to the North Jersey Area Band on December 8 at Wayne Hills High School.

They competed with 400 students from 39 high schools from Sussex, Morris and Essex Counties. The students will attended five intense rehearsals to work on challenging literature, and then perform a concert at Mt. Olive High School on Saturday, January 12.

The Purpose of Music Education is enhanced by the preparation, audition, and performance of selected students within the selected Northern New Jersey Schools. This enhancement includes: the preparation for audition, the rehearsal of advanced band music, the exposure to advanced conductors, and the performance of said music in a concert setting.
