COHESION: Families Bonding Together to Solve Real World Problems brought families together through interactive, science based inquiry.
Hopatcong Tulsa Trail family science nights are back! On November 27, 2018, Tulsa Trail Students, along with their families, had yet another fun night of science and discovery. COHESION: Families Bonding Together to Solve Real World Problems brought families together through interactive, science based inquiry.
COHESION activities included Hurricane Challenge, Rocket Challenge, Design a Playground, Clean the Lake, and Cafeteria Cookies. The first COHESION Night was held on Thursday, November 27, 2018. Participants were given a problem that the Hopatcong community has had or has the possibility of facing. Using the scientific method, families designed was to conquer the problem. At the end of the evening, families received a certificate of participation along with an extension activity to complete at home.
Hopatcong educators, Jennifer Neu, Danielle Kovach, and Alison Ibaceta received just under $10,000.00 to fund this project through an NJEA HIPP Foundation Grant. Throughout the 2017-2018 school year, three COHESION Nights took place and there are four nights planned for this school year. The next COHESION Night will be on January 30, 2019.
