According to the New Jersey Herald: The first of three superintendent's meetings that are planned within the Hopatcong Borough School District will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hopatcong High School cafeteria.
Superintendent Arthur DiBenedetto will lead the meeting with parents and members of the community invited to attend. Wednesday night's meeting will focus on the future of the Hudson Maxim School, said DiBenedetto.
"We have never seen this before with a superintendent calling a meeting on his own with the community," said Anthony Fasano, Hopatcong Board of Education president. "This type of meeting is less intimidating and more open."
Hopatcong schools recouped more than $600,000 in lost state aid last month, which the state reinstated as emergency aid following mold remediation the district faced at the start of the school year. The district now wrestles with the challenge of future state aid losses and will know more where it stands, Fasano said, when Gov. Phil Murphy addresses the topic of state aid for schools in February.
