The Hopatcong High School auditorium was bursting with patriotism on Thursday, November 15, as students from the Tulsa Trail Elementary School honored veterans who have served our country.

This event, funded by a Project PRIDE Grant from the Hopatcong Education Association, gave the second and third grade students an opportunity to thank a vet while while also learning about their experiences in the military. Coordinated by our resource teacher Jennifer Neu, the purpose of this program is to show students how important veterans are to our country and to give the students an opportunity to show honor and respect to these brave men and women.

The assembly included special songs sung by Tulsa Trail’s students, speeches written by third graders, and a video presentation with pictures of family members in the military. Each veteran in attendance received an award made by the students and they were treated to a delicious lunch after visiting each classroom.
