Hopatcong's Hudson Maxim School Kindergarten students in Mrs. Bisignani’s and Ms. Adams’ classes participated in a collaborative STEAM egg drop challenge.
The students worked in groups of four to construct a container that would catch a hard-boiled egg without it cracking. Each group had to collectively plan out their design, select a container and materials, and then construct it. Students practiced sharing and listening to ideas while working as a team.
After the allotted time to build, it was time to test out their egg-catching device! Would their contraption catch the egg? Would it crack? After the eggs were all dropped, students discussed changes they could make to their container if it didn’t catch the egg.
Overall, our STEAM activity was a huge success!
