Hudson Maxim forced spring to spring on Tuesday, May 8th as parents, grandparents, teachers, paraprofessionals, and students beautified the school grounds at the annual Spring Beautification Day!
This biannual event was possible due to a PRIDE Grant first grade teacher, Doreen Sciabica, again applied for through the Hopatcong Education Association in conjunction with the New Jersey Education Association.
Due to the unfortunate timing of illness, Mrs. Nancy Barnard, veteran teacher of the Hopatcong school district and soon to be and much earned retiree and fellow gardening enthusiast stepped in for Mrs. Sciabica and guided the volunteers and children in the planting.
Before day’s end the grounds of Hudson Maxim were abloom with geraniums, begonias, marigolds, petunias, impatiens, zinnias, and dahlias!
Enormous thanks goes out to the Hopatcong and New Jersey Education Associations for their continued generous funding of this program, Nester's Nursery on Sparta Stanhope Road for their stellar customer service and beautiful flowers and all Hopatcong community members, young and old, for continuing to help make Hudson Maxim a beautiful place for learning and growing!
