Forget Las Vegas, the troublesome overs – under and point spreads, as all you needed to do was to follow the SOUPer bowl to find the winner of this year’s Super Bowl Winner.
Hudson Maxim School students helped celebrate our very own Souper + Bowl. Yes, you read that correctly…SOUPer + Bowl! The collection effort at Hudson Maxim was led by Mrs. Doreen Sciabica, first grade teacher, and Mrs. Lisa Schuffenhauer, School Counselor. The collection benefitted Save the People, the local food bank out of Westside Methodist Church.
Students were directed to bring in donations of soup, macaroni and cheese, tuna, peanut butter, canned spaghetti sauce, and cereal, all of which are staples that help carry the food bank through times when donations are lacking, especially after the holidays.
Students used their food donations to cast a vote for their favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles or the New England Patriots. During lunches on Thursday, February 1, 2018, Hudson Maxim students joined together to use skip counting skills to total the donations.
There were 201 votes for the Philadelphia Eagles and 145 votes for the New England Patriots. The Eagles were predicted to win the big game by Hudson Maxim students, but the real winners are the patrons of Save the People because of the overwhelming generosity of the Hudson Maxim community!
