Last weekend the Hopatcong Farmers Market held their Dog Days of Summer, with free treats for the dogs, and Hot Dogs for the Humans.
Special Greeting by the Mayor of Hopatcong
The festivities all started with Major Michael Frances personally greeting each dog as they came into the Farmers Market. While his first love is for the Borough of Hopatcong, it was easy to see that his second love must be of the canine variety.
During their visit to the Farmers Market, each dog was pampered, scratched behind the ears, and received enough dog treats to last a week.
Special Guests at the Farmers Market
In addition, the Farmers Market was attended by the three following special guests, who really make a difference in the animal world.
Hopatcong Pound Project
The Hopatcong Pound Project was born from a compassion and need for the animals in our care. It started with myself and my partner meeting with our Mayor in June of 2011, from there it became a reality in progress.
We are very fortunate in Hopatcong to actually have a pound. Without a pound, the outlook for many animals is grim. No tax payer dollars are designated to care and up keep the animal pound, so it is up to us to be their voice and care for them as if they were our own. Yes, we are putting up a 24 by 47-foot building beside the current 55-year-old pound and the Pound Project will continue on to improve the quality and standards of care for animals waiting for a forever home and those who may never find one.
To all that have helped so far and those who will, we promise you that you are part of something great and making a huge difference for the animals and your community.
We are a pending 501c3 who focuses on rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming dogs. We are committed to each and every dog that comes through our rescue.
Rock the Shelters
Rock the Shelters is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, based in Hopatcong, NJ. Our goal is to raise money through music for animal shelters in desperate need of supplies, enhancing the lives of homeless pets. Watch for an upcoming CD to be released soon, where the proceeds go to support the Hopatcong Pound Project.
Coming Up Next - Services Day
Market your calendar for the Community Service Event on August 27, 2017. Which will feature a wide variety of Hopatcong groups such as the Hopatcong Environmental Commission, Hopatcong Gardens and the Hopatcong Woman’s Club to name just a few.
